History of GKJW

Is John Emde, who was born in a Christian family of the church wing pietism (which is concerned with living piety). As an adventurer, in 1811 he then lived in Surabaya and become a watchmaker. His wife, Amarentia Manuel is a gentleman's daughter Java *.
At the time Pastor. Bruckner is Pastor first generation messenger NZG, body evangelism Dutch-Javanese ground to translate the Bible in the Java language, he gets a copy.
In view Emde and his wife, the book is better disseminated to the people of Java. Through the mediation of his daughter (name?), This book received hawkers sheath (mranggi) which became known name Mr. Midah, a village Pegirikan Madura from Surabaya. The events that occurred in the animal market in 1826 took place just like that, there is no continuation anything.
Because they can not read, a book (rather treaty) was given to Mr. Dasimah, a Javanese who live in the area Wiyung. As a village muezzin, he then tried to understand what the content of the treaty. They were surprised and interested in writing the opening. Moreover, the word "Son of God" in a sentence Purwane Evangelion Because Jesus Christ Putrane God ("The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God").
It turns out that they are reading a translation of Mark. Although not understand, they kept trying to work a 'strange book' is. Is it possible to have a child one God? Understanding the very opposite of its beliefs. Elmu is this new?
At that same time, Coenraad Laurens Coolen, born in Semarang but Peranakan Russian-Java into a cinder blandong (forestry supervisor Netherlands). Although he trained hard in the Christian religion, but thanks to a close association with the villagers, he is very familiar with Java ngelmu.
In 1827 Coolen stop of cinder blandong office and ask for permission to open forest in Ngoro (south Jombang). Some time, this place becomes very ramai.Coolen become a new leader. At this time he also translated the Apostles' Creed, 10 Commandments, and the Lord's Prayer natural to the Java language.
Around 1835 (possibly 1833) takes place in the marriage ceremony Wonokuli village, near Wiyung. The celebration was held at the home of Kyai Kunthi, someone who often goes to Ngoro and stay a few months.
In this event, there was also Mr. Sadimah, a friend of Mr. Dasimah that often follow in Wiyung set to discuss new ngelmu Mark. He heard the similarity between the prayer offered by Kyai Kunthi with a book he had studied.
When it Kyai Kunti middle recite the Apostles' Creed spin Coolen. During listening prayer, Mr. Sadimah understand that the prayers were called the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the same as they have learned so far.
The incident and told to Mr. Dasimah. Glad he is not playing. Then, together with his friends they left for Ngoro to hear the direct teaching of Coolen. By Kyai Kunthi they were introduced to Ditotruno, an aide in charge Coolen Ngoro village, before they meet directly with Coolen own.
Coolen certainly surprised to see the tenacity of the people of this Wiyung Javanese origin, because they have to walk 25 hours. Since then, the group of this Wiyung Meguru (studied) to Coolen. However, given the many costs, not to mention the path of heavy and hard, then for 5 years, once a year they visit Ngoro. Some months they received various teaching about Christianity. On their return to Wiyung, they held services every Sunday, as the teaching given Coolen.
In 1840-1841, an event that can not be coincidence happen again. Mr. Dasimah child who works as a grass mower offers home Emde. Emde wife, he was asked about a variety of things to make sure that the child's Pak Dasimah have more knowledge about Christianity. Therefore Emde and his wife intend to invite parents.
Finally occur nevertheless the meeting. Good attitude shown by Emde family. Furthermore, Emde also visited Christians in Wiyung. It is very surprising Mr. Dasimah and friends because of the way the husband and wife is different from Coolen. Furthermore, they accept the teachings of Christianity. One is the matter of baptism, teaching material which they did not receive while in Ngoro.
With confidence, people Wiyung overlooks Emde to be allowed to follow the sacrament of Baptism, because they believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, has been felt as a Christian. Finally they were introduced by AW Meyer, pastor Dutch shepherd the church in the city of Surabaya.
Finally, on December 12, 1843, a total of 35 people (18 men, 12 women and 5 children) received the sacrament of baptism. This date in 1993 and is celebrated as the first baptism forerunner GKJW.
After this incident, Mr. Dasimah and friends to come back to their brothers in Ngoro and ask for an explanation of this baptism. Coolen if man is not actually require Java feel fellow Dutchmen. He is concerned, with the baptism that they become arrogant and feel themselves equal to the Netherlands. Therefore he was angry after finding out that they had been baptized.
Mr. Dasimah and his companions were expelled and banned from living in Ngoro. But before leaving, the whole night they talked about it with the brothers in Ngoro. Some of them then follow the footsteps of Mr. Dasimah and friends to get baptized. Ditotruno, one of whom also experienced similar events. He was expelled from Ngoro.
However, Ditotruno named Kyai Abishai baptism actually wanted to follow in the footsteps Coolen. He wants to open his own forest. The area that became the choice is in the northern village of Ngoro, approximately 10 miles away. Merchandise haunted forest called the successful opening. Many people are interested in so that the village is growing rapidly. Merchandise name was later changed to Mojowarno, because it is not so far from the kingdom of Majapahit.

* Note:
The role of women in history GKJW actually quite central. Only, this time according to the text book writers glasses that in fact the Netherlands, resulting in the role of the natives neglected. This is evidenced by the role Amarentia Manuel, wife of John Emde and one of their daughters. Based on the review of, suspected Amarentia Manuel who had more instrumental in spreading the Good News to the people of Java. The reason, as fellow natives, Javanese, certainly more adaptable and dive into the culture than others who are unfamiliar. Moreover, the existing language factor, Emde wife certainly mastered well
